Chris Hemsworth, Jason Momoa, George Clooney, David Beckham and the great Sean Connery back in the day rock facial hair and leave females of all ages hotter than the hinges on hell’s gates.

You may have noticed the same thing, and decided to get in on the action by growing a beard of your own.

Great decision!

Because the science is in: women find men with facial hair more attractive.

There’s one thing we know for sure in this day and age.

You can’t argue with science.

Here’s what the science says…

Several Studies Confirm It

A 2008 UK study of 60 women found males with a full beard were considered more masculine, aggressive and tended to be considered older.

Women in the study also considered men with a light beard the most dominant, and those with a light stubble the most attractive for both short and long term relationships.

These findings were confirmed by another 2013 study by Dixson & Brooks.

Their study concluded the more beard a person had, the more masculine they were perceived.

However, the men rated as most attractive were not the most masculine – an intermediate beard length was judged most attractive.

A joint study carried out in Brazil and the Czech Republic found that homosexual men had a stronger preference for beards (and masculine traits in general) than hetersosexual women.

Cultural factors were considered, and it was found that women tended to find beards more attractive in cultures where they are less common.

Hygeine Is Important

Women in the study who did not find beards attractive associated them with feelings of dirtiness.

Consciously or not, beards are sometimes seen as homes for parasites and bacteria.

This is all the more reason to make sure you’re rocking a healthy looking, pleasant smelling beard so these fears are quickly put to rest.
