Researchers for the University of Utah wondered if beards provided additional protection for males when punched in the face.

In eras gone by, fist fights among blokes were not uncommon and the primary target was often the face.

By simulating an impact from a blow delivered to a ‘regular’ face vs a bearded face, they were able to determine that the beard did indeed cushion the blow.

So if you, or someone you know, seems to be getting punched in the face at an above average rate the solution is clear!
